Low Ebb At The West End
The River Thames wants to grow bigger than the sea
But it follows obediently its master’s tides
Like a thrall yanking at his golden chain
At Wandsworth they don’t call it South Bank
They leave this privilege to the City of London
It is simply called the West End
Where St Mary’s church of Battersea
Taunts the cold cathedrals of Imperial Wharf
Low ebb is just low ebb…
